Sen. Jon Ossoff holds a 56 percent to 43 percent lead over Rep. Mike Collins among registered voters in a Fox News poll released around July 1. On July 2, Ossoff challenged Collins to three televised debates in the 2026 Georgia Senate race. The election is set for November 3.

Debate Proposals Target Multiple Outlets

Ossoff and Collins have already agreed to the Atlanta Press Club debate series, scheduled for October. Ossoff added two more requests: one hosted by WSB television and another jointly by Gray Media and Atlanta News First. The proposals aim to reach different audiences across the state before early voting begins.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the challenge details on July 2. Ossoff framed the additional debates as opportunities for voters to compare records directly on issues including healthcare costs, infrastructure spending, and federal policy priorities. No dates have been set for the new proposals.

Collins Campaign Accepts One Format, Reviews Others

Collins campaign officials said they have already committed to debate and are reviewing the additional requests. They stated the goal is to hold Ossoff accountable on government shutdown threats, healthcare access for illegal immigrants, and donor influence in his voting record. The response came through Atlanta News First coverage on July 2.

Collins secured the Republican nomination on June 16 after defeating Derek Dooley in the runoff. President Donald Trump endorsed Collins late in that contest. Collins now faces a House Ethics Committee inquiry over alleged misuse of funds, a matter noted in multiple campaign reports.

Poll Shows Incumbent Advantage Early

The Fox News survey gives Ossoff a 13-point edge less than four months before Election Day. Ossoff, the Democratic incumbent seeking a second term, benefits from name recognition built during his 2021 special election win and 2022 reelection. Collins, a first-term House member from the 10th District, enters the general election after a competitive primary season.

Collins must close the gap on fundraising and visibility while managing ethics questions. Ossoff has maintained consistent leads in early surveys despite a national environment that favors Republicans in some Senate battlegrounds.

Next Steps Center on October Schedule

The Atlanta Press Club debate remains the only confirmed event. Campaigns will negotiate the two additional proposals over the coming weeks. Voters can expect the first head-to-head exchanges in October, with the general election following on November 3.
