Derek Dooley is a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Georgia in the 2026 election cycle and a former college and NFL football coach. Raised in Athens, Georgia, he played football at the University of Virginia and later earned a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law. He practiced law in Atlanta before beginning a long coaching career that included head-coaching stints at Louisiana Tech and the University of Tennessee.
